Summer Breeze at Red Kiva 2013

Beautiful jazz music rang throughout the 1100 block of west Randolph Street in Chicago as Red Kiva kicked off the 8th annual Summer Breeze Jazz series. The series, hosted by Eve Marie Bridgeforth of Events by Eve, brought local Chicago talent and jazz lovers all in one place for an evening of beautiful entertainment.  Some of Chicago’s top business owners helped by sponsoring the event to keep the entry for local Jazz lovers complimentary, with an occasional surprise local celebrity like Richard Dent! Some of the local sponsors on hand included Red Level Entertainment, Exelon (Emmett Vaughn), State Farm Insurance and Hennessy (Durrell James).

Kim Kimble Talks Leadership and LA Hair

by Dawgelene "Dr Dawj" Sangster- Leadership isn't easy and if you ask many leaders, they would agree. I recently sat down with the beautiful star of WeTV's LA Hair, Kim Kimble, to talk leadership and how she defines it. Check out the questions/answers below and her beautiful pictures from the interview! We Love You Kim Kimble!

Dr. Dawj: What makes a great leader?

Kim Kimble: Leadership is very important and everyone can’t lead, but you have to know who is capable of leading effectively.  As a leader, I know how to be stern and understanding. I understand that each person has to be dealt with differently and that you have to meet your team members where they are. People are human and make mistakes.

Dr. Dawj: How do you define team cohesion?

Kim Kimble: Not all people will be a great fit for your team especially when they have different agendas. As a leader, you have to know how to let people go when they are cancerous to your business.  You have to have discernment to know who is a great fit and who isn’t.

Dr. Dawj: How do you find a “good fit” for your team?

Kim Kimble: I trust God and I believe in forgiveness. At the same time, I believe leadership is like being a parent or having a family; you have to love people through the good and the bad; you have to scold them when necessary and you definitely have to know when to let people go.

Dr. Dawj: How do you recognize good talent?

Kim Kimble: As a leader, you have to recognize that every person on your team plays an important role to the success of that team. Respect their position on your team and help build on their strengths.
