by Dawgelene 'Dr Dawj" Sangster- As the new year kicks into gear, many people have made resolutions to lose weight, save money, travel, go back to school and do other things. However, one group of women are starting a movment to be better wives in 2014 and beyond. Felicia Houston, founder and CEO of the Anointed Wives Ministry, recently held her 6th annual prayer breakfast to kick off the new year.

"I am passionate about marriages and women doing what we need to do and be for our husbands. Marriage Rocks!" says Mrs. Houston.

Many women packed  St Xavier University on a recent Saturday morning to pray, eat and receive inspiration from dynamic speakers to include, Summer Alexander, Keyonda S. McQuarters, Debbi Boer Smits and Jamilla Thomas. They danced to the tunes of Zumba music by instructor, Lenora Henderson and even received the "laying on of hands" while traveling through a human "prayer tunnel".

"We are on a movement for 2014 to make a difference and we will be different," says Mrs. Houston.

Why Avery Sunshine Understands Her Purpose!

I sat down with the beautiful and very talented Avery Sunshine, for an intimate discussion on life, love and her purpose.  She helped me to understand her “calling” to serve others and why she is truly grateful.

Dawgelene:

How does it make you feel to know that you have a positive impact on so many lives?

Avery:

(Chuckles) “Wow. The first feeling is unworthy and then gratefulness. I'm worthy and I know that God put me here for a reason. I finally get it even though it has taken me a long time to realize just how worthy I am. My aunt told my mom when I was a girl that I was going to be a preacher and she used to call me “preacher girl”. I ran from that label for a long time; but I am no longer running from my calling that God has on my life. I am a different type of  “preacher” and I AM worthy of the calling God has on my life to touch so many other lives in a positive way.

Dawgelene:

What are some things you are grateful for?

Avery:

I am really grateful for the reminders in my life to confirm, affirm and validate what I'm suppose to be doing and my purpose. I get those from my partner Dana, my children and others that tell me to keep doing what I'm doing and making a difference in the lives of others. It’s a shame that we often believe the negative before the positive; the lie before the truth; but I'm reminded daily that I'm one of God’s angels called for a purpose. I use my calling to remind others to keep pressing forward no matter what you are going through. It doesn’t matter what your situation is, God can and will use you if you allow him to because you are here for a reason, and you do have purpose.

Dawgelene:

What are your final thoughts on purpose?

Avery:

I have been talking to my partner about writing a song. I told him that it isn’t always about what a person says to you when you are around, but I swear its about what people are saying about you when you are not around. In thinking about that purpose, I have to ask, what type of life are you living and what are people saying about it/you when you are NOT around them?
