Commanding Your Time- part 1

It is important to COMMAND YOUR TIME and spend it on the things that matter to YOU! Brian Tracy's Law of Forced Efficiency implies that while you can't do everything in the time frame given each day, there should be enough time for people to do MOST things. The questions you should be asking are:

  1. How am I spending my time?

  2. Am I allowing others to control how I spend my time? (this could be in ways that are uncomfortable for you)

Keep in mind that one can never really get caught up and one must also prioritize things to do each day. How would your life change if you had more time? I am sure you could find a ton of things that you just have to get done for everybody, while probably missing doing things for yourself. I have an assignment for you:

  • Take out a piece of paper

  • Write down all of the things you spent your time on in the past 2 weeks (include everything for others and for yourself, if applicable)

  • Review the list

  • How many of those things on the list did you "not care about doing" but felt you "had to do"?

Your time is precious and worth more than gold but you have to ensure others are treating your time like its precious. Spend some time thinking about this list you put together and try to find ways to make it work on YOUR behalf.
